Gold pendant, the oval frame bordered with strapwork, flowers, fruit and leaves, enamelled green, blue and white with traces of red,
surrounding a sardonyx cameo portrait of a woman, probably a Ptolemaic princess as Demeter/Ceres, veiled and wreathed with poppies,
facing in profile towards the right. Suspension loop, and drop shaped sapphire hanging below.
Cameo: 2nd/1st century B.C., Sapphire: 11th century, Mount:16th century.

Signed Mrs. N in a rectangle on underside of clasp, "G. Bissinger" is scratched on the reverse side of the cameo.

Zawieszka upamiętnia śmierć dziesięciomiesięcznego niemowlęcia w 1798 r.
Na odwrocie napis: „Henry Halsey Inft. w wieku 10 lat zmarł 12 stycznia 1798 r. ” i „Miłośni rodzice nie smucą się z powodu twego Dziecięcego Syna, którego Bóg wezwał go i Jego Wola się wypełni”.
Henry był pierwszym synem Henry'ego Halseya z Henley Park, Pirbright, Surrey.

He originally wore a laurel wreath; this was replaced, probably in the medieval period, with the current setting of jewels.
Provenance is unknown; the first recorded mention appears to be AF Gori, Gemmae antiquae ex thesauro Mediceo et privatorum Dactyliothecis Florentiae, I (Florence, 1731), 47-48, who describes it as being in the Strozzi cabinet in Florence.
